My experience with FDBL ( Filed through #1 DataStorage Firm) has been good till now. Informed well ahead, filed on time. LC processing took a bit b/c of general LC filing norms but LC cleared in 20 days and I140 in 7 days. Guess they did their paperwork and all right.
Sorry for other's issue

Credit cards are issued mostly to GC holders only unless they have a checking account as well with the institution-unless one lies in the application. You are also presuming a 100% credit worthiness and sign up rate - extremely optimistic. This would work when IV is about a million strong and if people like you and me become 'resident' aliens - and dont turn our backs on those behind us.
Many banks in the US will not allow you to add additional accounts like CD account etc ONLINE unless you are a GC holder or a citizen. They ask you to go to a branch to open an account. This is even when YOU are an account holder with the bank for a number of years.
One way of supporting IV and feeling good is to buy some IV merchandise.

Called the congressman's office and spoke a nice lady. She took down the bill numbers, my name and zipcode and told me that she will pass the message along. She was very friendly and it took me less than a minute to call.
Those who have not called yet, please do.

The intent about letting foreigners come to work in US is to fill the gap between the demand and the local availability of skills. It is not about rewarding the foreigners academic skills.
If you want to work here, then get skills in a field where there is a shortage here and you will not have problems with H1 sponsorship.
When you did your Masters degree in US, you should have been more smart in selecting your area of study.
Why should US allow foreigners to work against its citizens when there is no shortage of skill.
Your frustation is understandable from your perspective but definitely not from a US citizens perspective.
This is definitely a wrong advice. People pursue their passion and do their Masters in a field they like. People do not look around which field is giving a Green card. US is not dictating the job market in this global economy.

I have been thinking about whether to attend the rally or not from past few weeks. Attending the rally would require me to take a day off. Finally today without thinking twice I just went to my manager asked if I can take day off on 9/18 instead compensate the work in the following saturday. It was approved and I am attending the rally on 9/18!
I am feeling so good now.
Also, I live in DC area and can help if somebody needs to be picked from airport to the rally and drop them back if needed.
Hope to see thousands on 9/18th...
ALL THE BEST TO OUR CAUSE!

The text for HR 5140 Economic Stimulus Act 2008 has the following eligibility criteria:-
ELIGIBLE INDIVIDUAL- The term `eligible individual' means any individual other than--
(A) any nonresident alien individual,
(B) any individual with respect to whom a deduction under section 151 is allowable to another taxpayer for a taxable year beginning in the calendar year in which the individual's taxable year begins, and
(C) an estate or trust.

Have to track down the ITIN rule pushed by FAIR and who all voted for it. It is amazing that xenophobes such as FAIR can get an amendment in so quickly and under the radar. Perhaps CHC should be focusing on them rather killing any immigration reform short of amnesty.
Votes are here:
http://www.govtrack.us/congress/vote.xpd?vote=s2008-10
The amendment was sponsored by Senator Ensign (R-Nevada) who said his staff discovered that the stimulus payments would go to illegal aliens.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSXqiyqLVd4
In reality, the change was the result of lobbying by FAIR, an anti-immigrant group:
http://www.fairus.org/site/PageServe...ter_friendly=1
FAIR is accused of having ties to White Supremacists.

Going back to India is not a bad option at all, but it is really subjective to each individuals about what gain we are going to get out of gaining GC or citizenship from US or Canada like settling down in these countries for good or moving back to country of origin later. In my opinion gaining citizenship from US or Canada before going back to India will be always advantageous, one future perspective these countries have bilateral agreements with other developed nations where you can travel without visa for business trip or for even jobs where you're treated differently as against India citizens(Asian origins doctors who work in UK know this difference). Its a known fact that the pay structure in Gulf countries are different based on the citizenship.
My 2 cents
kris
Country of origin: India
GC Status : Approved in 2008
Kris04,
Appreciate your realastic advise, I believe its worth one dies in canada for citizenship. I would say CANADA is a great nation and citizenship is widely respected, on top of everything you are widely allowed to any country.

Hi frens,
My employer filed I-140 on July 12th and at Nebraska Service Center which must have been deleivered by now. And my employer persist that they cannot file I-485 until I get receipt notice. I even came to know on another thread even without receipt notice I-485 can be filed with an application as a cover letter.
So can I do that myself without the help of the employer or I have to wait for the receipt notice.
Is there any way we can get the info by USCIS by calling them or by taking InfoPass Appointment and asking them..
Please advise. Thanks in advance.

Hello,
During the July 2007 fiasco I applied for I485 and I got my EAD and AP, but I have not used the EAD and still using and maintaining my H1.
Here is my dilemma, 2 years ago I went to India and used my AP when entering US though I had a valid H1 but I did not get the Visa stamped and after entering US on AP I am still using and maintaining my H1 and NOT using EAD. Recently I also got a 3 year extension on my H1.
Now I am applying for my new AP as the old one is expired. My question to you gurus is what should I put in the "Class of Admission" field? Shall I put the AOS or H1?
TIA

I have used Fragomen in two different situations...
1) Contracted by my employer. This was frustrating from my perspective. I felt a little like an object, mostly dealt with paralegals.
2) Contracted by me. This was much better, I could call the attorneys up anytime, and get an answer when I needed it. Had excellent relationship with paralegals.
These were two different departments.
I do think that I suffered from some less than optimal advice, filed EB3 when EB2 would have been better. That was in 2002 when EB3 EB2 EB1 for all was current. EB2 was a tougher sell to Dept Labor, but I think would have worked, attorney didn't want to risk, and wasn't sure if a downgrade would be offered if EB2 failed.
One thing was consistent.... expensive.
I all but begged them to send out an email to clients referencing DC rally.
I have raised the idea with core of adding a field(s) to profile giving attorneys name/address. If we have a lot of members with Fragomen, maybe we could write a group letter asking them to send out a mass email to other clients.
So please be civil in these public forums.
