Hello everyone,
I really really wanted to come but unfortunately am working on a very important deadline.
However my wife can come, but she would need a ride as she cannot travel alone.
Is anyone going with family to DC. If a family is travelling to DC from the Philadelphia area, (& coming back on the same day) she is VERY eager to come.

is the date of the approval of the EAD renewal or is the day after the expiry of the current one?
Can the folks who got theirs approved recently answer? Maybe we will know in a few days once they have their EADs in their hands.....
I got my EAD card earlier this week. My validity is 6/19/2008 -6/18/2009....it is the same day as I recieved EAD "approved" notice via the CRIS email. My "July Fiasco" EAD expires 9/16/2008.....so yes I lose 3 months!!!!
So much for applying early :(

First off, I don't appreciate your sarcasm @ 2 cents leading to a dollar. Secondly if your leader is going to scream at people who are not attending the meetings, this is only going to drive people away from IV. Unfortunately, as someone who has learnt it the hard way, using aggressive language (especially language which is a negative judgement on people's nature) does not get the work done at the end of the day. Logiclife is not screaming at people for not attending. He is screaming at people, who said they will come and did not show up (in addition they did not inform the person who they RSVPed as to why they did not show up).
If there was a legitimate reason for not showing up, then it is fine. But if it was lethargy, low confidence in the success of the event or some other insignificant reasons, then logiclife's screams apply multiple times.
The public disclosure of "AMMA" as an apology to needhelp is commendable.

It's not a surprise that TheOmbudsman is hated so much here. I think I will try contacting a couple of offices. I know these folks are crazy busy but we could try leaving some printed letters in their offices for a week then go back and pick up? Why people in the forum still asking people to convert from EB-3 to EB-2?
This is not the SOLUTION!! It will only make things worser and worse...
If people keep converting their EB-3 to EB-2 then what about those EB-3 filers that file their application in earlier years? they will keep stucking in the line forever! THAT's not FAIR!
It is not the time to blame EB-2 or USCIS! IT is the time to dicuss an effective way to to distribute the visa no. effectively.
DO SOMETHING CONSTRCUCTIVE! NOT ONLY FOR YOURSELF! BUT FOR ALL THE VISA/ GC APPLICANTS!

Are you sure your employer didn't sneak in a labor sub without your knowledge??
If not, you got a lucky break, just cherish it? Once in a while USCIS gives us good surprises too:D Few of the folks don't have the guts to share such a lucky break on the forum, thanks for letting us know. EB2 visa's are available and hence the approval won't be a surprise except that u'r PD's aren't current. It would've been a huge surprise if this happened to EB3-I. May be the adjudicator mistakenly saw U as a ROW applicant. We all wish this adjudicator be assigned with lots of cases:D

I work for company A in india which has a subsidary company "B" in US.
On "B"'s request i worked in US for company B from July 2006 to Nov 2006 (for which i have valid pay checks).
I went back to India and worked for A till June and i came to US again to work for Company B.
Now as soon as i entered US, i have applied for a premium H1 company transfer to Company C.
Now i got a query to submit my Pay checks which i do not have as i resigned Company B after coming to US.
Please suggest me whats the ideal way to answer this query...

People feel as if they have achieved something big after getting an EAD. EAD is not a visa and EAD status is not a valid status. You in fact lose your h1b valid status once you invoke AC21.
I have personally seen people change their attitudes as if they have achieved a gold medal in Olympics and talk big about "'Fingerp[rinting", about AC21, as if they have written the AC21 law. Does anyone know how AC21 came into picture on the first hand? There was an advocacy group called "Immigrant Social Network" that was behind the AC21. Prior to that, EB rules were extremely stringent with no portability.
Everyone browses this website, gains knowledge and behaves as if he/she is an immigration expert and has achieved something big.
We have been cajoling people. To what extent?
Words cannot describe the amount of effort "needhelp" has been putting in. She still continues to be the same and claims that her morale will never go down and her commitment levels have increased. All the cowards, and so called smart asses - try to learn some good lessons from people like her.
Life is not all about shopping at Macys, talking about fingerprinting, and watching TV, and spending hours on phones talking about how dealstobuy is different from buy.com or not about how CVS pharma sells the same item for less rate than rite aid. Life is not all about "sitting here doing nothing and talking about how different countries are rising and why one MUST not care for his own good"
IV is a volunteer organization and every member is equally responsible member. If you try to elude, and act smart - it only reflects your dirty character.
If you are here, do something. Yes, atleast something that you feel you can do. Please do not cheat those who are working extremely hard for your cause.

I am on H1 Visa and I am planning to go for further studies and converting my H1 to F1.
Now after completing my studies, can I use same H1 petition from Old Quota or I have to apply again in Fresh H1 Quota.

Assuming thay the information they will share is what all of us are seeking, it is not going to be a bad deal if we can find 500 people willing to chip in for this initiative (I am an optimist guys).
If they are going to give out the information, then it should be ok to pay $5k.
Questions are:
a) How soon will the work be finished?
b) Can they please integrate this request into their processes that they generate the numbers periodically, such that visa bulletins reflect demand appropriately?
