Per AILA:...2 BIG 'IFs'
Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has scheduled a procedural vote on a motion to proceed with the Senate immigration reform bill (S. 1639) for Tuesday, June 26, 2007. If the motion passes with 60 or more votes, senators will begin debate on a negotiated list of 24 amendments, split evenly between the two parties.
Debate and votes on the amendments will continue until the morning of Thursday, June 28, at which point the bill will be put to a second procedural vote to limit debate. If it passes with 60 or more votes, the Senate will have 30 hours of additional time to debate and vote on the outstanding amendments. If the bill survives this procedural gauntlet, a vote on final passage could occur late on Friday or possibly Saturday.

Go_guy when did you come to US, When did you go to Canada (Toronto).Which job are you doing now in Toronto?
I first came in 1999 Fall as MS student. Then in between, I went back to India during the 2002 downturn and then came back in 2005. I did my MBA finance at U of T and now
working as Analyst since my second year ( due to F1 visa restrictions I couldn't have
done that in US). After graduation I am working there but looking for better options as well.
I came as PR in Canada. But i look at the international students from India in U of T. They are far better of than the international students in US. Here they get 3 years work permit
after graduation and can also work part time while studying. With new rules u get PR quickly after 1st year. Also during the 3 year post degree now they are eligible for the government health care like PR/Citizens. Canadian immigration is now highly tailored toward people
studying/working in Canada.
Compared to that, US treats its international students like dogs. If I get the opportunity to relive, one thing that I would not have taken was doing my previous MS in US. Moving to Canada was the smartest decision taken...no regrets.

Unfortunately, unless we write to our senators, congresswo/men, and media our issues are going to be sidelined. That is why we need to call, write emails and get to DC, step up the advocacy effort.

Any thoughts on organizing rallys state capitals ?
Good Idea...I had the same thought.....
We should do this rally in all the 52(?) states on one day to make it more historic!....This way the Local State chapters will get motivated and media will always be there on the state capital.....
Ideal would be a Friday afternoon....So people who don't want to take a day off, can just take few hours off and drive to the rally location...
People/Media will forget these rallies very soon, Once some OJ news comes up....we should keep on knocking the door!!! crying baby gets milk :) ....lets keep trying till our goals met!

If many EB3 people start porting to EB2 then EB2 queue will grow. But if we think how many already jumped the line using so many ways...this is not a bad option at all. As long as we qualify for EB2 and employer is ready its the best thing to do for people waiting with 2002-2004 PD.

1st July is Sunday!!! so we have to apply on 2nd July..
Sure, though I am not back from a party... IT IS INDEED PARTY TIME FOR MANY :D
My question was more specific, with dates being current, can you apply for 485 on any day of next month July.
I suppose the next bulletin for Aug (that may probably be released 10 or 11 July) will be only effective since Aug 1st.
Please confirm.

Certainly Canada is much much better option. Wish people had talked about it 10 years ago. So for those who just came to America or those who are deciding where to go to work or to school, Canada should be the first choice. You will actually have more flexibility being a Canadian than American.

A little hesitant initially but it all went quite well. She took the message, name and the location I was calling from. Took less than a minute and the lady was super nice.
GO IV GO!
I have been a contributor for quite some time and this was the only thing which was missing (HESITANCY TO CALL) and I am glad I am over that too. There is no reason not to make the call friends. GO FOR IT. It really feels awesome after the call.
.................................................. .....
$370 + $50 recurring.
Called the congressman's office and spoke a nice lady. She took down the bill numbers, my name and zipcode and told me that she will pass the message along. She was very friendly and it took me less than a minute to call.
Those who have not called yet, please do.

I flew Air France several years ago.
Had a bad experience. They had not issued a Paris-Delhi boarding pass to me in Atlanta. They said that I would have to get that boarding pass in Paris itself.
In Paris- they refused to give me the boarding pass- stating the flight was overbooked and that I am checking in 'late'. Acknowledged that the boarding agent was wrong in Atlanta. Bumped me to the next flight several hours later.
They have lost all my business since then. I have not flown Air France since then (and likely never will)

Considering a new labor is approved in EB2 (through same or different employer), can another I-140 be filed with older EB3 PD? In that case what happens to already filed I-485 application (EB3)? Can it be adjusted with new I-140 in EB2? I was wondering if anyone has done that.

Get a life.....As far as immigration is concerned...I know more laws than u could possibly think of..I have been in this immigration hell for more time than possibly u could think of...I am just asking u to read a few times before u post...
Being an Indian does matter in this discussion....in most of ur post ...u r referencing people from ROW...I understand what they would be feeling...that FYI was for u to understand that if I could get offended then people from ROW surely will...
there r lot of people on EB3 ROW who are either nurses, engineers etc...They are well qualified...and u don't have a right to call them unskilled...Period..End the discussion
All I can say is .... :) I didnt ... you called them that by wrongly inferring that from my posts

May be USCIS has started working tail backwards OR there's some serious bug with their SQL queries to sort data...:)
God bless us all!
Who said they use SQL? For all I know, it is most likely a big Excel table :)

Thank you all very much for answering my question , I feel much better now.
Just a quick follow up.
I am assuming she can continue to work on her OPT till we get our EAD cards or her H1?
Thanks for your response.
Yes, certainly your wife can apply for I-485, that has nothing to do with your whether your wife is on F-1 or H-1.
Her H,F etc. status continues independently of the Adjustement of Status petition. (Yes she can file even while in F-1 as she is not the primary beneficiary but your dependent for I-485)
Infact as soon as your wife get's her I-485 receipt, she is legally in status even if she loses her F, H etc. status.
Moreover I can say all this since I know someone who is an exact similar situation.
