I feel that initiator of this thread is not trying a coup d'�tat. He is merely pointing to the fact that every organization runs by elected officials. Having a life term president and core group is only heard in autocratic systems but not in a democratic one. What are we as an organization?
Why are we afraid of discussing new ideas? Why shouldn't we open up IV organization for elections? There is nothing wrong in declaring the rules and then playing by those rules.
So I completely support the guy who came up with this suggestion.

One of my friend got receipt for I-140 and I-1485, He send on July 30th to Nebraska Service center. I have send on the 2nd July still waiting.

Univs take business decisions. Enrollment generates revenue through tuition. Some states also pay State Schools for each registered credit.
Univs have to admit whatever is available. Some crappy students (foriegn + American) have to be admitted. Some state schools have very low requirements for in-state students. There is no choice.
Further, these students have to graduate. Once again, there is no choice.
For most departments, faculty quality is independent of student quality.

We need to understand if there is a system in place for fee waiver?
To get any favourable thing like getting fee back and such things, first thing is that they have to officially accept that they are doing this and that is the most difficult part. You cannot get them to talk so easily.
Breaking the law is not acceptable - it can be from all sides, but when you deal with govt agency - it is not easy - there is a lot of beurocracy associated and it is not that easy as we all think it is.
I understand the frustration among the community - but we must all collective channelize our frustratons into something constructive, positive and effective.
thats why we need innovative ideas to deal with this.
Come on EB2, EB3 - US MAsters, US Phds, EB1s , scientists, doctors, engineers, consultants, and all those ivy leagures - can you use your IQ and brains to help wiith these issues? Please post some ideas here.

SO,can we all try to get the unused visas recaptured.If they can do that for nurses and physical therapists ,they can do that to decrease retrogression.I dont think they require senate approval.

My I-485 case got reopened after being in denial status for three months............ My attorney got a letter from USCIS.

I went to the Congressional office on 05/14/2009 morning.
Congressional office made a call to Nebraska Service Center regarding the case on the same day afternoon (05/14/2009 afternoon)
USCIS sent letter to my attorney on Friday (05/15/2009).
My attorney received it this morning (05/19/2009).
Looks like magic........Whoever has been working on my case from the past three months made a huge reversal decision in just a few hours on 05/14/2009 afternoon with atmost attention........I like this sudden surge in commitment and care on my case.......

I have seen my friends refinancing, received mixed results.
Few say, can not approve loan because of temproary status (They have no answer for why they allowed last year when purchasing the home).
Same guys were able to get it done thru other banks.
EAD - is not popular as H1B in the financial area. They don't understand. You have to give this as a supporting document along with your H1B Visa and I-797.

In that last quarter its all hit or miss, some 20-30% of people who get current will get GC (like what happened last year) then again back to 1 year of creep and crawl... hopefully by then we get some form of immigration legislation to clear this backlog.

Who is uscis answerable to ? how about sending letters to all the congress man and senators asking them to raise theor voice about the functionality of uscis?

To those with H-1 extension issues:-
I applied for H1 extension 6 months ago and a month back changed to premium processing. I had got an RFE from regular dept and very same day made my application to premium processing. Now my application got approved without having to respond to RFE.
The RFE was employer-employee relationship and thats one bad RFE! Premium processing dept people are more experienced and better. Go premium on your H1!
Also, when on H-1 you can get promotion. there is no issue. It is called natural progression in job.
Have fun guys. In my opinion grass always looks greener on the other side. I think US is always better. Also, if you are single and EB2, you can make use of cross-chargeability to get your green card! Goodluck.
